Jagaran Media Center (JMC) was established in the year 2000 by young and motivated journalists from the Dalit community.  Incited to begin fighting the caste-based discrimination they had experienced all their lives, JMC was founded as a media awareness organization advocating for social inclusion. In it's relatively short lifespan, JMC has been extremely successful in raising Dalit issues at the local, national and international levels.  Various awareness campaigns highlighting the realities of caste exploitation have been targeted toward both Dalits and non-Dalits in order to foster a society free of caste discrimination.
