Meet the Press

JMC organises ‘Meet the Press’ programs where journalists from different publications and different areas are invited to discuss about Dalit related topics. Main goal of 'Meet the Press' is to encourage the media to publish about Dalits, by providing them with news and information about Dalits. Some of the programs are organised at regional level while others at national level. Follow up actions; such as clipping the news/statements published after the Meet the Press, takes place to trace the effectiveness of the program. It will help to review the importance of the Dalit news given to the Press. Outcomes of such review are incorporated in JMC’s overall media strategy (to make the lobbying towards media more effective).

Media Watch

Media Watch report is published twice a year. All national level daily newspapers are monitored and evaluated regarding the frequency of articles published on Dalit issues. Different subjects like education, women, health, conflict, incidents etc

are also analysed. Every six-month Media watch report is discussed with all the chief editors of newspapers involved. The main objective is to create more media coverage on Dalit issues in Nepali newspapers.
