Training for journalists empowers Dalits to establish themselves in the mainstream media. Dalits are invited to participate in the training and gain knowledge about mass media, journalism, writing techniques etc. Several past participants are now journalists in the mainstream media. JMC offers basic to advanced level journalism training to Dalit and non-Dalit journalists in order to increase the quantity and quality of media coverage on Dalit issues. More than 500 Dalit youths have been trained in different levels of JMC journalism training programs, and many of them are actively involved at the national and local level media (TV, print, FM and online). They work in close collaboration with the JMC and Radio Jagaran. Of the total trained journalists, 378 are actively working in different means of media across the country.
