The Jagaran Media Center (JMC) is a non-governmental organization established in 2000 by journalists from the Dalit community. It advocates to eliminate caste-based discrimination and create a more equitable, inclusive, and social justice through media mobilization at local, national and international level. JMC has been supporting to enhance the capacity of Dalit Journalists to promote for inclusive media, news reporting on Dalit issues. In addition, JMC has been working for promoting human rights, gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI), peace and governance, environmental justice and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). It collaborates with different media organizations for the issues of Dalit & marginalized communities.

JMC is implementing the project " Enhancing inclusive and participatory politics in Nepal through the media mobilization". The project aims to create safe spaces for dialogue among marginalized groups, including Dalit women, indigenous communities, and persons with disabilities, ensuring their voices are heard in decision-making processes. 

Detailed JOB Description/ Requirements 

1. Objective of the position:

The major objective of the position is to ensure proper admin and financial management of the organization. He or she will be responsible to lead the admin & finance section under the direct supervision of Executive Director. JMC hereby invites qualified professionals to apply for the above position.

2. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Ensure robust financial management and reporting of the project by adopting the donor compliance and organizational guidelines.
  • Lead the admin and finance section of the related project to ensure the effective management of the section in close coordination with the Executive Director.
  • Ensure better performance and accurate reporting from the accounting software (FAMAS).
  • Manage the cash flow, fund accountability statement, audit report, and other financial information to be provided the donor agencies.
  • Ensure JMC Administrative and Financial Policies are followed properly.
  • Ensure all payments are made with proper financial procedures, supporting documents for expenses verification.
  • Coordinate with the National Project Coordinator for program implementation as per the budget plan and program activities.
  • Prepare budget and activity plan, budget expenditure plan, reports, to ensure effective, timely and efficient commutation with concern stakeholders. 
  • Preparation and payment of staff payroll, CIT, and tax calculation on a timely basis 
  • Ensure internal control measures are in place, are followed appropriately, and assist in all types of audit (Internal, donor, external) and support in the task as assigned by the program head and the JMC board.
  • Ensure proper logistic and procurement arrangements as per need.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft word, Excel and PowerPoint.

3. REQUIREMENTS: 

Master's Degree in management and minimum 2 years or Bachelors Degree in management and minimum 5 years of working experience in NGOs/INGOs and familiar with accounting software (FAMAS). S/he will be responsible for overseeing administrative, financial, and operational functions related to JMC activities. Under the direct supervision of the ED, S/he will be responsible for processing and reconciling all financial transactions and monitoring the financial conditions of the program components. In addition, s/he will be responsible for supervising the work of the admin & finance assistant.

The major objective of the position is to ensure program execution at the local and provincial level. He/she will be responsible for preparing a budget plan, a program implementation plan, reporting, and smooth coordination with local stakeholders for the project implementation under the direct supervision of the National Project Coordinator. JMC hereby invites qualified professionals to apply for the above position.

2. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Coordinate & collaborate with selected local government units (LGUs) of Lumbini province for the project implementation.
  • Ensure the perfect reporting, program planning, budget planning and monitoring for the project interventions at local level.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to district team to ensure timely initiation and implementation of project activities according to the set standards and quality.
  • Provide strategic and technical assistance to the projects.
  • Ensure that JMC's organizational policies as well as compliances of project is completely adhered while implementing the project's activities at district and provincial level.
  • Responsible to identify the policies and programs formulated for the Dalit and marginalized groups at the local and provincial level.
  • Develop linkages and good coordination with stakeholders and like-minded organizations, media agencies and local journalists.
  • Make the project activities transparent and visible at the district level through regular and active participation and monitoring of the project.
  • Ensure that the project budget at the district level is spent rationally, timely, and economically to produce maximum results.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint, photography and video documentary.
  • Knowledge on research background and data analysis, along with disaggregated data

3. REQUIREMENTS: 

Bachelor's Degree in sociology, humanities /Journalism or a relevant subject, and minimum 5 years of working experience in NGOs/INGOs, familiar with public relations. S/he will be responsible for the project and JMC activities at the local level.
